Harvey's feel-good comedy, recently a hit film, treats
the story of first love between two teenage boys with
compassion and wit. A modern day urban fairytale, both
hilarious and moving.
|
Harvey's
play (later a Channel Four film) follows Jamie and Ste, sweet sixteen
and in love. The two boys must come to terms with their feelings
whilst avoiding Ste's alcoholic father and Jamie's long suffering
mother. The tale is cleverly wrapped around a theme (Make Your Own
Kind of Music) and other tunes from sixties pop-star Mama Cass with
whom neighbour Leah is obsessed.
